Protestors Invading Pitch: A Photo Feature

 A pitch invasion happens when a spectator or a group of spectators rush onto the playing field, usually to celebrate or criticise an incident, or occasionally as a publicity stunt and to spread awareness.



A pitch invader carrying a rainbow flag was tackled as they protested during the pre-match anthems ahead of Germany's Euro 2020 clash against Hungary on Wednesday.
The rainbow flag protest comes after UEFA turned down a request from the mayor of Munich for the city's stadium to be lit up in rainbow colors for the Euro 2020 Group F match between Germany and Hungary. (Source- Matthias Hangst/Reuters)



The Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool on May 4th, 2021 was postponed after fans dramatically broke into the ground and invaded the pitch in a protest against the Glazer Family, which owns the club. ( Source- Action Images via REUTERS)

In a league match Everton vs Newcastle, a protestor invaded the pitch and tied himself to the goalpost to protest against the excessive oil use in the world. 
The same incident happened in a league match of Tottenham vs West Ham United. These two are a part of an anti-oil organization. ( Source - Getty Images) 




Now onto cricket....


The incident occurred before the start of the sixth over in India vs Australia's first innings, when the protestors walked into the middle, carrying a placard that read “No $1BN Adani loan”, and wearing T-shirts printed with the words, “Stop Adani”. (Source-  Wisden)




Climate activists dressed as Super-Woman and other movie superheroes interrupted a cricket game in South Africa against England by invading the field, and protesters also climbed a floodlight pylon to display a banner. It read:  “Toxic Air Is Not Just A Game” and “(hashtag)BowlOutAirPollution.” ( Source- AP)



The largely peaceful protests urging the UK for a complete boycott of sporting and cultural ties with the genocide-accused Sri Lankan state. The protests in Cardiff followed a violent incident near the Oval Stadium in London the same week, where Tamil and Sinhala activists clashed during the Sri Lanka-Australia cricket match.( Source- Colombo Telegraph)

The Art of Finshing off a Game

As an Indian, how often have you witnessed your country's national team on the verge of victory only to lose in the dying moments? The number of sporting heartbreaks that we Indians have experienced, particularly in the last decade, is heartbreaking and something to consider. The Indian Men's Hockey team experienced something similar against the Kiwis in their Hockey World Cup crossover match last week. The Indian team led 3-1 at the end of the third quarter before giving up two more goals to finish regulation time with a 3-3 score. In the end, New Zealand won the penalty shootout and advanced to the Quarter-Finals. There are lots of instances like these across many sports we play. Often, our National Men's football would lead the game narrowly like 1-0 or something, and then concede a goal in the dying minutes. Same with the cricket team, both men and women. Imola Grand Prix 2022: A Review

 Rolex Gran Premio del MADE IN ITALY E DELL'EMILIA-ROMAGNA 2022, as the F1 purists call it, and all the newbies who got into F1 after watching "Drive to Survive" on Netflix just call it the Imola Grand Prix. It is a track with great history and some of the best and worst moments on an F1 track. This is an old-school classic track with fewer overtaking opportunities as there is only one DRS zone, but this year, after the changes in cars and rules and regulations, we got to see more overtaking on " chicanes ".
