Why My Music Taste Is Superior To Yours.

From AR Rahman and Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy to Midival Punditz and from Lifafa and Ritviz to Prateek Kuhad and Kanishk Seth, these artists might not cover the whole spectrum of my musical taste. But these are some of the moods of my daily life that make their way into my playlist.

Today I am making a bold and 99.9% true statement here: "I have a music taste superior to yours" and I am going to prove it here with some facts and data. This might offend you, so this is a disclaimer.

The reason(s) I have better music taste than you are as follows: first, I listen to many genres that you aren't aware of, and I enjoy discovering new artists. It gives you a bigger perspective on why and how you should watch out for different things in this world. Different perspectives mean you are more open as a person to learning new things and accepting and listening to the truth.

I discovered nearly 100 artists in 2021, and this fact is supported by statistics provided to me by Spotify Wrapped (certified legit).

Secondly, I am privileged to have a musician's ear. So, I know my music well, inside and out. What sounds good and where does it sound good, I can sense it in one way or another. I don't judge a song by its musicality. I am dependent on how a particular note in a particular segment of a song impacts my brain and whether it is suitable for my mood at that time. I might skip a song, saying "Nah, not today mate" and listen to it on repeat the next day. Who knows?

You cannot define my playlist, nor can you make a theory out of it to judge my taste, because you cannot read what and when my valuable brain wants to listen.

Thirdly, I might or might not have a lot of free time to discover new genres, artists, or write this extremely narcissistic blog.

Enough of bragging about my playlists and my "superior" music taste. Here's a spoiler: everyone thinks they have better musical taste than others. True, because no two people are the same. Hypocrisy. Clickbait. But I am still a big narcissist.

My main playlist is 20 hours long, and I have a separate playlist for desi hip-hop called "Bharatiya Rap" and a special one called "Headache Playlist" which is full of synthy music stuff and EDMs, etc. But, all of these playlists are far from finished because life goes on, and once a wise man said, "Life is nothing but a song".

P.S. I made that poster on top, and I have a superior taste in music than yours. Sike.

Sportswashing: An Introduction

"Sportswashing is  the practice of laundering one's reputation through sports , whether through team ownership, hosting a major tournament, or sponsorship. A country or politician gets involved, hoping that some of the sport's popularity will improve their image.. " This is how the internet defines the term "sportswashing," and in a literal sense, it is correct, but the story and truth behind it are much deeper. This phenomenon is affected and influenced by history, politics, international relations, and the economy of the person or state involved. One might use one of these aspects of sports to improve his/her or a nation's reputation. Nazi Germany's hosting of the 1936 Berlin Olympics games was one of the first examples of "Sportswashing". In recent times, the involvement of politics in sports is visible everywhere. It's the greed that attracts politicians and leaders to sports; the greed for a good reputation, money, people on th...

The Art of Finshing off a Game

As an Indian, how often have you witnessed your country's national team on the verge of victory only to lose in the dying moments? The number of sporting heartbreaks that we Indians have experienced, particularly in the last decade, is heartbreaking and something to consider. The Indian Men's Hockey team experienced something similar against the Kiwis in their Hockey World Cup crossover match last week. The Indian team led 3-1 at the end of the third quarter before giving up two more goals to finish regulation time with a 3-3 score. In the end, New Zealand won the penalty shootout and advanced to the Quarter-Finals. There are lots of instances like these across many sports we play. Often, our National Men's football would lead the game narrowly like 1-0 or something, and then concede a goal in the dying minutes. Same with the cricket team, both men and women. There's a reason we have not won many ICC trophies after performing like a top team. THE MISSING KILLER INSTINCT...

Imola Grand Prix 2022: A Review

Rolex Gran Premio del MADE IN ITALY E DELL'EMILIA-ROMAGNA 2022, as the F1 purists call it, and all the newbies who got into F1 after watching "Drive to Survive" on Netflix just call it the Imola Grand Prix. It is a track with great history and some of the best and worst moments on an F1 track. This is an old-school classic track with fewer overtaking opportunities as there is only one DRS zone, but this year, after the changes in cars and rules and regulations, we got to see more overtaking on " chicanes ". So let's get into it.   Some of us expected this race to be tedious and long, but then it rained, and it became exciting. A little rain can cause some changes in a race, such as pit strategy changes, less grip on tires, and thus car spinning, no DRS, and a Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen racing in rain masterclass.    Imola Track Layout All the teams had the time to work on their cars after a hot Australian GP, weather-wise and especially for the Red...
